S&W 042 Airweight

I was at a show this past weekend, and happened on one of these, in pretty nice shape. Didn't look as if it had been fired, but there was a big nick on the rear of the frame.

Asking price was $299, and the dealer wouldn't move on it.

I've been interested in getting one of these, or an Airweight Bodyguard, for quite some time.

I know S&W revolvers, but I don't know the prices on the J-frames. Was that a good price for Northern Viriginia? Should I have gotten it?

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

Mike, don't know bout your area but that would have been in the mid to upper 200s here in upper Arizona.

Sam...I and J frames are cool.

$350 gets you a new 642 in many parts of the country. Check Gun Lists or Shooting Times for used J frame prices.

I wouldn't pay more than $250.

Also in the later J frames you can fire +P 38s. The 042 is older and this isn't recommeded for it.

Mike,Thats a fair price for a S&W 042 in nice shape, I just paid about that for a mint mod. 37 made in 1983. i am very happy with my purchase.
