S&B ammo accuracy??

From what I read on this and other boards, I think most everyone would agree that S&B is one of the better cheap ammo brands out there. But how does it stack up when it comes to accuracy. I just got a case of S&B 9mm and so far I can't say that I'm that crazy out it's accuracy. Now, I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to marksmanship. But, on most days I can keep 'em all in the nine ring on a B34 using G19 at 25 feet.

Today, I had a slight problem though using S&B ammo for the first time. I'm not saying it was the ammo. Maybe I just had a bad day or maybe that Desert Eagle I was shooting beat me up more then I realized. All I know is that my first shoot actually missed the target, following shots weren't much better. I also had a couple other brands with me for comparison. When I switched back to Win and Remington UMC my accuracy went back to normal.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I've used S&B ammo in my Bersa Thunder .380, Colt 1991A1 .45acp, and my Makarov 9x18. No problems with function, and the accuracy is pretty good. In other words, no complaints and will not hesitate to buy and use more :)

Been using S&B in 9,40 and 45 for some time. No problems, and the price is right. Wilson Combat test fires thier pistols with S&B and recomends it for thier guns int the 230 ball load.

I routinely practice with S&B in .380, 9mm, & .45 in my SIGs, Berettas, Kimbers, & H&K, works fine for me & is certainly accurate enough. I occasionally get a first round flyer, but that's not limited to S&B. Bang/$, I think it's great stuff. M2

I just shoot a box of S&B 115 grain 9mm fmj's out of my Ruger PC-9 carbine today. It shot fine. Every bit as accurate as Federal or Winchester ball ammo out of that carbine. Even out to 100 yards.
But it sure smells funny.

Hello, Tankist! Like you, I do NOT like S&B for target work because I cannot get it to group as tightly as some handloads and some other factory brands. The stuff functions, but only gives me 9 and 10 ring accuracy while Fiochhi, for example, gives 10 and X-ring accuracy from my HPs, CZs, and SIG P210.

Having said all this, I have no complaints with S&B's .45ACP in terms of accuracy; just the 9mm.

Best.

I shoot IDPA matches using my Glock 21 and I try to get my hands on S&B ammo if at all possible. I have never had a problem with it, from the standpoint of either accuracy or reliability.

Huh, go figure. Maybe I was just having a really bad day. I also noticed the previous time that was out at the range with my Gold Cup using s&b .45 ammo that the accuracy on that wasn't that great either. Who knows, maybe it's all me. All I know is that I seem to be more accurate with other stuff. I will say this, s&b seems to function flawlessly, I wish I could say the same for the other cheap ammo brands that I've tried in the past.

I like S&B for practice, not nessicarily bulleye competition material, but more that sufficient.

my G30 prints 1 hole with PMP so go figure. my para ord won't do that! it makes the para jam a lot too.

I just bought 500 rounds of S&B's 9mm 115gr JHP for my new Sig P225 ... it was about the same price as the discount stuff locally and I had initially thought of running through a 250 round qualifier to build confidence in that round as a possible backup defense round ... my USP40c is the real choice. I had my first ever failure to fire after shooting only 100 of the rounds ... and a 1% failure rate is not OK by me. The primer dent looked reasonable and the second hammer strike succeeded ... I guess I'll go fire off the rest of the lot and see what happens ... I've shot a LOT of S&B in the past and have, in general, been pretty happy with it.

How often do people have failures to fire ... It has yet to happen to any of my reloads and aside from some cheap .308 surplus I have never had it happen with a factory load.

My friends and I order the S&B 9mm by the cases and split it. So far I put about 400 rounds of it trough my CZ75B without and problems. I did get one failure to fire with my friends USP, but both of us attributed that to a weak strike, given that there was not much of a mark on the primer and that his gun was getting pretty dirty. A second pull of the trigger maded it go 'pow' as expected.

As for the original question about accuracy I can say without a doubt that as far as I am concerned it is a lot more precise then I am so I can not complain. :)

I've fired thousands of rounds of S&B in 9mm, .40, .45, .380, .303 Brit, and 6.5x55. I've never had a misfire with it. YMMV.

Too bad we aren't complaining about how their primer sealant gets all over my fingers whenever I load a magazine... ;)

As far as accuracy is concerned.. I've had no problems. I've shot more/less accurate ammo before -- but for the price, it's pretty good.

S&B is one of the ammo brands I prefer to buy when I possible. Not only can I usually get a good deal on it but it is plenty accurate and very reliable. Out of my CZ-75 I don't notice any difference in accuracy between S&B and Winchester or Magtech or PMC. The bonus with S&B is that both the primer and case mouth are sealed so this stuff is good stashin' away ammo. :)

I've shot over 2 cases of S&B .223 in my AR15 and Mini 14 without one FTF. The stuff is great and I would not hesitate to buy it again. I have not tried any of it in my pistols so that is my next test.

S&B 9mm, being European, is loaded hotter than US ammo. (My gunsmith says S&W is true to the original Luger design and US stuff is downloaded.) Maybe that was a factor in the difference you saw. Hotter rounds are a bit harder to shoot. I've had good experiences with S&B 9mm, and I've reloaded with their brass with no complaints.
