I have a stainless Springfield V12.I keep it well oiled in my gun cabinet.But it still continues to rust.We had a very damp summer here in W.PA but I always kept it wiped down.Has anyone else had rusting problems with a stainless Springfield or any other gun?
It`s not merely a matter of oiling it and the precaution of removing anything which can promote rust should be taken. Clean the gun first and prior to applying oil. Rig Gun Grease really works well in inhibiting rust.
I wonder if the Springfield could ever have come into contact with steel wool? I understand that the surface of a stainless gun buffed with steel wool may trap particles from the wool, and that these particles can rust. Just an idea.
