Rust in barrel

Just bought a used M70 270 Win. It's only about 2 yeaes old only about 12 rounds through it. It looks like brand new, except when you look through the barrel. It has some rust pitts about 2" from the chamber in one of the grooves. The rest of the barrel looks great.
Will this cause any accuracy problems? Will copper collect in it? Is this even worth worring about?

I have some really bad news for you.
The answer is not to be found on the Internet, you are going to have to shoot the gun and learn what it tells you.

Me?
I'd clean it thoroughly, maybe with some JB to knock the rough edges off the rust pits, and shoot it on the range. I expect it will do ok but cannot promise, see above. I would keep it wet with solvent -something oked for soaking - between uses because the rough spots will foul.

I don't think I would worry about it . Being 2 inches in front of the chamber should not hurt the accuracy at all . I had a friend that found a Remington 700 in 7mm Mag leaning against a tree out in the hills, where he was cutting fire wood . No telling how long it had been there .It was loaded and had set at least one winter out there . Snow and rain water had collected in the barrel and the barrel was pretty bad right in front of the chamber . After cleaning it up we shot it and found that it really shot good M.O.A and is still shooting to this day .

Thanks. I bought this from a young guy I work with and I don't think he knows to much about guns. He said it shot 4" low at 100 yds. I don't think he knew that he had to adjust it. At $375 I feel I got a good deal.

I thought about using moly coated bullets. They might keep the copper from loading up in the pitts.

Nothing can put metal back that's been eaten away...pits are going to be pits. Will smooth out a bit with use and may not foul too badly, but it's going to collect some 'extra' fouling at those pits no matter what you do.

Once the pit's edges are smoothed a bit (either by bullet's passage or by lapping) the chances are it will shoot about as well as before it grew those pits but my be more pickey about WHAT ammo it's fed.

May shoot well...no way to know until you shoot it.
