Russian Ammo question!

So I took My polish tantal shooting yesterday. Through it, I shot Silver bear, WPA, Tulammo (Terrible ammo-glad I ONLY bought 4 boxes) and a few hornaday v max rounds. I know on the box they say non-corrosive, but is this completely true? My barrel is not chrome lined, so if I need to give it the windex treatment, I need to do it soon. What do you guys think? I just used some hoppes and gave it a decent wipe down/barrel brush.

The FIRST (which was also the LAST) shot of tulammo got stuck in the chamber after firing. It was jammed pretty hard. I noticed that the recoil was VERY MUCH lighter than any other of the rounds listed. While it was stuck in the chamber, I noticed a indentation on the rim where the bolt was slipping and not pulling. So I had to jam a rod down the bore to get it out. This, along with other bad things I've heard about this ammo leads me to avoid it. I have no reason to use it when Wolf and Silver bear are available.
Also, I'd like to note that Silver bear is GREAT AMMO! It was grouping a lot tighter than wolf or my hornaday. I could manage 1.5in goups from 50 yards, which is awesome for an ak (for me), but think it can be better with improved sights as well.

Ya, ironically I got about a .75 inch group at 50 yards with my mini 14 with wolf ammo. I don't know why, I got about a 1.5 '' group with PMC brass ammo. That russian stuff is either really good or really bad.

The current production Russian commercial stuff, Wolf, Bear, Tulammo, UCW, etc, all that's marked non-corrosive is indeed non-corrosive. I've fired thousands upon thousands of rounds of that stuff through a variety of guns, and have never had any rust form if I didn't treat the ammo as corrosive... one of my AK's right now hasn't been cleaned in about 3 months after a diet of exclusively Wolf and Tulammo and there's no sign of rust.

Before anyone gets on my case about being lazy with the cleaning, most of my firearms I do clean regularly and very shortly after firing, even if shooting non-corrosive ammo, but when dealing with an AK, I genuinely feel like I am wasting my time if I clean it after firing something like 100 rounds.

I have 500 rounds of the Silver Bear 62gr and finally fired some of it the other day. I was also pretty impressed with it.

Have you tried the Golden Tiger yet? If not you might want to give it a try. My CZ VZ58 loves the stuff.

Justin, that may be so, but why use it again when I know for sure my Silver Bear and Wolf is solid? Along with the fact that I've heard other bad things about tul. I only bought 4 boxes, so I'm not too upset about not using it.

What would one or two more shots hurt? So you're gonna let the other 4 boxes sit? I don't know of anywhere that takes back ammo.

No you didn't unless you used a rod of a harder material than the barrel is made then its your fault. If a brass or aluminum cleaning rod scratched your barrel then I'd get rid of that gun.

Good argument. I just don't see the use of using that ammo anymore. I have other ammo I like, and lots of it. I might use it eventually when my other stuff runs out.
