I found a Tula 54 with matching #s but restamped stock and synthetic handguard and am thinking of picking it up. I know their prices have fallen due to Romanian imports but is $275. a fair price?
Thanks,
Mac

Sounds a little high

Depending on the value of the stock that price sounds a bit high. I paid approx. $120 for my SKS (matching #'s, good condition wood stock). I wouldn't think that the prices on them have risen that much in about 4 years.

Actually that's a fair price

I paid $285 for a perfect rearsenaled 1950 tula a few months ago. For a nice Russian that is a decent price.

geez...and i was thinking my '54 was just a fun shooter, i think i paid $165 when they first came into the country. i guess i'll leave it alone and get a romo instead.

I got real lucky and got a great condition Russian a few months back for $180 at an auction, no one else bid. All numbers matched but the stock shows a lot of scuffing to the inch thick varnish. All the other Russian rifles I have seen are $275 plus.
