today i was listining to a fascinating all-gun podcast at this address (http://handgunpodcast.com/) and the dj said something that really perked my ears up..

along with the usual list of offenders from the anti-gun list he casually tossed in OSHA as one of those that might/is/will soon be taking their cheap shots at black powder thus possibly limiting/eliminating its availability for reloading, sale/purchase via the net..

this could be deadly serious and possibly the end of bp as we know it.

anyone else heard about this ?

It was in the news about one or two years ago...

It was first making the rounds about 2007. OSHA at the time proposed new rules governing the storage and shipment of real black powder (aka, Holy Black). OSHA has long since retracted their steps after a massive outpour of opposition from the BP community ended up in their face.

There was a recent posting on a B/p site that there was a bill floating around to change the status of b/p from an explosive to the same catagory as smokeless powder, which would actually increase it's availability. The special liscencing requirements for b/p is the reason than many dealers don't carry it. Of course the incident here in Ky. a short while back may derail any change in the status since the reports are that B/p was the cause of the tragic explosion.

that 2007 info is new to me and a little too close for comfort.

what i've heard (podcast only) is that bloomberg's "mayors against illegal guns" now has a "blueprint" which is posted on a site called SNOWFLAKES IN HELL which posts "Firearms Policy and Politics in Pennsylvania" news bits.

the podcast episode is dated jan 2010 and the remark is @ minute 14:30+ ; the bloomberg/snowflakes/blueprint stuff is from dec 2009.

i've scanned through it and did not see BP mentioned anywhere near osha, but it is on legal numbered paper and has michel & associates law firm as the reciever of the FOIA material with stationary from the executive office of the president, office of management and budget
