I'm about to go shopping for a new gun:) I have my list, and I've narrowed it down to a few diffrent guns. One of them is a Ruger PC4 Carbine. It looks like it would be alot of fun at the range. Does anyone have any info they can share on this gun. Finally I like wood stocks better then plastic, arre there any companys that make wood stocks for the PC4??
Thank You
Brian

OK, I have the Ruger catalog in front of me and here is what it states:

MSRP = $575.00
Autoloding Mass Delay Blowback action
Magazine capacity = 10 rounds, will use the same magazines that the P series pistols use
Front site = post
Rear site = adjustable
Barrel length = 16 1/4 in
Rifling = 6 grooves

It comes in .40(PC4) or 9mm(PC9)

As far as anyone making a wood stock for it I do not know.

Hope this information helps...

Rugers PC carbine

I had a PC in 40. It was very accurate and never had a jam be it factory or reloads. Reassembly can be aggravating-follow owners manual exactly in this procedure.Since you are interested in wood stocks, try a IAI M-1 carbine.It is simpler to take apart and reassemble and the 30 carbine round is affective.

My PC9 was my first long gun. I bought it used and have been having a lot of fun with it. Amazing what a longer sight radius and the stability of shoulder mounting does for you! I eventually slapped a Leupold Gilmore red dot on it and continue to really enjoy the little gun. Reliability has been 100% (although all I've shot through it so far is ball). Disassembly is a bit of a chore but I'm highly mechanically DIS-inclined and it doesn't present any insurmountable challenges to me. Mine came with a factory 10 round magazine and two unmarked 15 round mags. I picked up a couple Triple K 15 rounders and am not impressed (one of the two is pretty functional if you can manage to cram all the round in). If I was in serious need of the 15 round capacity, I think I'd pay for factory pre bans and be done with it.

I think these carbines are a great choice. Good luck..

No Wood Stocks EVER.

IIRC, the Stock is an integral part of the receiver. You don't have a choice but to use it. It's not like a marlin with separate trigger group and magazine modules. This is all one piece.

I have a PC-9 with a Leupold/Gilmore red dot on it. Fun little carbine. I have a half dozen of the Triple-K 30 round mags which have worked fine for me. Like all Ruger products, they are built to last. I fired mine with a plugged bore. I had a squib and didn't know it. It sounded the same to me. I fired the next round which was VERY loud. There was no damage at all to the rifle.

I have a PC4 which is my truck gun. It stays locked up in
the cab of my pickup in case of a situation. I had a gunsmith install sling swivels on it. I have not had it jam. One of the reasons I liked it was the plastic stock. In my application I don't have to worry what the heat, cold and humidity is doing to the stock.
