Ruger stainless to cut or not

I like short barrel Revolvers 4.5/8 is the best easy to carry and easy to shoot . I also have a very nice Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag Stainless with 7.1/2 inch barrel . I am thinking about cutting it down as I never shoot it?

Now the problem it is one of the very first Stainless Supers made and has the LUG in the barrel . Ruger only put the lug in the barrel for the first 6 months of production so it is a special firearm built in 1983 . The gun is 100% original and condition is very good (about 95%) se# 84-967**

The little I have shot the gun it shoots ok but not great total round count is less than 100 all lite lead loads .

Also I have other short barrel Rugers and one 44 Mag a three screw 4.5/8 barrel I shoot a bunch .

I would trade it for the Alaskan, I have one and love it.

SA only The Alaskan is ok I guess but not for me .
I buy guns and Sell Guns but do not Trade Guns
 
Sell it, put the money aside for something you want to shoot.

If it really is a rare gun, there's someone out there willing to pay you at least what you paid for it accounting for inflation. Just have to wait until they bite on an auction site or consignment somewhere.

I could sell it but I can not buy from Ruger what I like . I like 4.5/8 barrels and large grips . I had one cut to 4.5/8 last year a blue old model 44 Mag .
I really like the gun and shoot it about every day the weather is fair . I had it coated Gloss Black and it is so easy to clean . Now thinking a backup to the three screw would be nice in Stainless .
 
What I believe I would do is go on over to the Ruger Forum and ask about the scarcity of the gun you have. There are a few serious Ruger collectors there and would give you some idea of what you really have.

If it turns out to be not that special, cut it. Then see if you can get a Weigand front sign base for it. They use interchangeable blades. But I don't think they make them anymore.
