been checking these out for a bit now.... anyone OWN one? how has it been working for ya? and what do you think of the overall quality? only looking for info on the Ruger, not really looking for a " try this instead" thanks.

I have a SR556E model. The E is for economy. No chrome plating or quad rails. It is an excellent rifle. Very well built and acurate. It shoots better than i do! I have not had a malfunction as of 1500 rounds fired.

Waiting for spring and warmer weather to add to the round count!

there are better piston options for the same price for a bit of higher quality.

LMT
LWRC
Stag Arms
CMMG
Adams Arms
Primary Weapons Systems (PWS)

they are inherently heavier because there is more to the mechanism. The best reviews I have read are from PWS. They are great at maintaining accuracy at a 7.5lb AR-15.

I paid $1090 for my SR556E. I have not ever seen those you mentioned sell for under $1500. Please point me in the right direction!

Edit: I just did a Gunbroker search and found the Adams, Stag, and CMMG to be similarly price -$1050 to $1200. The LMT, LWRC and the PWS were all significantly above $1500.

I see that you didn't actually read the OP:

Yes, I own one. The SR-556C. It's been a spectacular gun. Yes, it's heavier than DI guns, but the quality is excellent. It comes with a troy quad rail and troy flip up sights. I've got about 3,000 rounds through mine and like 2,400 of them are junky wolf ammo... even still.. I've never had a single failure of any kind. The extremely reliable. I like that the receiver and BCG stays clean(and cool) too. I can shoot several hundred rounds and pull out the BCG and with my bare hands and it's cool to the touch.

It's a fantastic gun. Kinda heavy. Kind of expensive... but it's a hell of a shooter.
