Ruger SR22 trigger failure

I just traded for a Ruger SR22 for a fun plinker. I field stripped it to clean and when I put it back together the trigger doesn't work. I checked YouTube and there seems to be a documented problem with the trigger not connecting properly to the mag safety and then being loose. I know it can be sent back to a Ruger but is there an easy fix that can be done at home? Has anyone encountered this?

Did you disassemble farther than is typical for normal cleaning?

If so, it may be something you did during reassembly.

If not, are you remembering to insert an empty magazine before testing the trigger?

I have not heard of any issues with the SR22 myself. I suggest you look for a 22lr focused forum or a Ruger one, those guys may know more.

If I recall correctly, the trigger will seem dead until you insert a magazine and rack the slide. Have you tried that?

I have done all that has been mentioned. It sounds from my research that a part of the mag disconnect gets slightly bowed so that it doesn't catch correctly and so the trigger doesn't engage. I will research more.
