Bought myself a Ruger SR-1911 .45 4.25"
The good: love everything about the gun, fits my hands perfect, carries really nicely, smooth trigger pull, very smooth action.

The bad: It is to fun to shoot... ammo is expensive HAHA

Congrats on the purchase. You'll be very pleased with the SR.-1911. Nice guns, especially for their reasonable price. Look on ammoseek.com for the best prices for .45ACP. Be prepared to buy in 500 or more lots for best prices.

when I first saw ruger 1911s advertised a few years back I looked over at my gp100 and "im getting one of those" popped in my mind. The first one I saw in my lgs I picked it up ( I was there looking for a rock tactical) and here we are. Love the gun, never a problem. Got Hogue grips on it now to preserve the originals. Wish theyd made a blued version though, perhaps they will.

JWT,
Thanks! only have about 50 rounds through it right now. can't wait to shoot more. Is that ammoseek.com a reliable website?

They've been reliable any time I've ordered from one of the vendors they list.
I started ordering from LAXAmmunition after seeing them on ammoseek. They're closer to my home than other vendors and thus their freight is much lower for my deliveries.

What kind of recoil spring system does the commander version of the Ruger SR1911 have? Is it like the old Colt or the Kimber-style captured spring?

Congratulations on your new SR! I also am a new owner of a SR1911 CMD.

I just picked mine up yesterday, looks like rain might keep me off of the range today but I got it all broke down and cleaned up last night. Soon as the weather clears I'm gonna run some ammo through it.

Not sure if this is your question, but it uses the standard brushing/spring setup, so no paperclips or "kimber tools" required for breakdown. Actually one of the reasons I wanted the Ruger over my Kimber Pro Carry II, that and I like shooting all steel frames better.

That's great! I like that setup too. I only wish Ruger also made another variant with the commander slide/officer frame (all steel) setup. That'd be perfect for me!

Sig makes one like that (TCO) but lately I've had a couple of bad experiences with Sig quality control (remedied by Sig grudgingly), so I am reluctant to buy one.
