Ruger SP101 pic

For a good gun pic, you need lots of INDIRECT lighting. The first thing to do is lose the flash. Think "outside on a bright but cloudy day"!

Yes, nice pic. The picture threads are always fun to look at. I took this one of my SP101 today. Camera is a Canon Digital Elph. No editing, except for a little cropping. I find that using the timer, with no flash, and a small tripod helps a little, but my pictures always come out a little grainy, and not as sharp as I'd like.

nice.. is that a 3inch?

Yes, it's the 3in version.

Try to decrease the ISO if you have the option. I know you can on the Canon DSLR, maybe not on the point and shoots.

I'll have to look at my camera a little better. It is a point and shoot, but it does have some manual adjustments. Thanks for the tip.

Throw some wood on that, and it'll be CLASSICO!!!

I agree, the wood inserts are very nice.

Woah, woah, woah... rugersp101, you can't just post those pictures and not leave us any details?! Who makes the wood grips in the bottom two pictures!?

Sorry about that. Both wood grips are Hogue SP101 models, the top one is Pau Ferro and the bottom is Goncalo Alves. The green inserts were from ebay and the brown inserts are Ruger factory Lett's co. which are out of business and are a little trickier to find, but show up from time to time.

Weigand Tame the Beast conversion of the SP101 .357 the grip is a Hogue coco bolo

lighting is a little too harsh on the grip but it is a very shiney chunk of wood.
