I've had the Ruger sp101 in .357 and sold it a few years ago. I was thinking about the pros and cons of getting the 9mm sp101. What do you all think?

Hey the Sp101 is a great gun, I have one in 357, The 9mm is out of production so far as I know, a 9mm small frame gun would really intrest me IF, IF the gun makers would shorten the cylinder and frame to match the cartrige, thus saving weight, otherwise if I have to lug all that steel around it might as well be reamed for 357 though I'm usually carrying the speer 38 spec snubbie load, unless in the woods when I carry Cor-bon JSP's which are not compleatly punishing to shoot from the Sp101 though it's the only snub I woudl try this with.

I would love to find a 3" SP 101 in 9mm it would be a great compliment to my S&W 9/642. I wish that Ruger would make a convertable version 38/357/9mm with a 3" barrel with a .356 bore. That would be a hoot.

I have a 3" Sp 101 in 9mm. Snagged it in minty condition at a local shop last year for $350. I generally collect /shoot S&W revolvers but this one hooked me from the second I picked it up. Fit and finish were good. Action was very smooth. Being a fan of the S&W mod 625/ 25 , 45ACP revolvers, I was already sold on moon clips . It has since become my favorite non S&W revolver and hands down favorite 9mm (period). Cheap as dirt to shoot and has "just right' power/recoil / cost ratio for practice/plinking. ( i.e feels like a 38 +P round off but costs 10 cents a round.). Pretty darn arrcurate too. Won't argue that it's not up to 357 performance, just that it's a joy to own and shoot.

She's not for sale but here is a quick pic:
