Ruger Sp101 and GP100....?

Still a rookie here and considering either of these two revolvers at this point. Is the Sp 101 comparable to a S&W K frame? How about the GP 100? Where are they relative to the Smiths in terms of frame size/comparison. Am thinking about the 3 inch for possible carry. Thanks.

Nelso, I have the 6" Gp100. It is probably one of the most reliable 357's next to The S&W 686. The 6 inch is a little heavy, but you said you wanted to get the 3. I've talked with people here who say the 4 inch is a very nice handling shooter. The Gp100 is solid as a rock, has a nice blue finish..or stainless. The Ruger Ruger grip that they put on the Gp/Redhawks are one of the reasons i bought the handgun. I got mine new IB for 409. I thought it was a pretty good deal for being in Maryland

Heres some articles on the Ruger

SP101 (don't have any expierence.. just that it is a smaller frame)

The GP-100 is about the same size as a S&W L-frame, like the 686.
The Sp-101 is about the size of a S&W J-frame, like the model 60, althought it's a bit beefier.

The SPs are great for carrying. The 3" GPs are supposed to be pretty good also.
If you want maximum concealability, the Sp-101 is the way to go. If you can put up with a bit more size and girth (the GP is a 6-shooter versus the SP which is a 5-shooter), the GP would be the better choice,as the larger gun will be more controllable.
