Ruger Slabside problem

Today, I had a problem with my Slabside. The bolt wouldn't lock open on an empty mag! None of them! There are five and two of them are new, so it doesn't appear to be a mag problem per se.

It's not that big a deal, just a minor problem. I would like to fix it though. Any ideas?

Clean the mags. When the magazine is empty, the button on the mags push the bolt lock up. If the magazine is dirty, the button/follower may not rise enough to lock the bolt.

Another thought is the inner workings on the frame are too gummed up for the mag spring to push the bolt lock up; you may not notice the extra force needed when you manually lock the bolt. Remove the receiver (barrel assy) and give the frame's inner workings a good cleaning.

The first thing you do:
Don't be a dip wad.<--ie. someone that uses the wrong size screwdriver and buggers up one of the screws holding the left grip on!!!!ARGGGGG!!!!<---at myself because I'm king of the Wed. Morning dip wad club.

Now that you've gotten the proper sized screwdriver,,,and aren't next in line to take my crown away ;) with the muzzle pointed to the left, remove the left side grip and insert a magazine. Does the slide stop move up? If it does, look at the backside of the grip. Cean off all the accumulated crud and your problem is solved. If it doesn't, remove the magazine and reove the botl and reciever. Now looking down from the top, insert a magazine. Does the slide stop move all the way up? If it does, clean all the accumulated crud out of the part of the reciever where the slide stop homes. If it doesn't, then clean all the crud out of the area around the slide stop/frame with a brush and solvent or a spray can of gunscrubber and lubricate it with 1 drop of oil.
