Ruger Single Six

I was looking into getting a Ruger Single Six most likely the new model and was wondering what experience some of you guys have had with them good or bad thanks for the help.

I have an old model (no transfer bar) that I purchased at a gun show. I figured out after I got it home that the onle cylinder it came with was in 22 mag (it's not marked). It took a little while, but I purchased a 22 lr cylinder on E-bay. Though it will not do as well as my S&W K-22, it's the one my son prefers to shoot. It has a 5 1/2" barrel w/o adjustable sights.

My bro-in-law has a 6 1/5 model w/ adjustabe sights that he is quite pleased with.

They're both good guns. I don't think you'll find a better SA 22 revolver.

i have a model also without the transfer bar and i think they are "neat little guns" Its fun to fan fire one and just do some serious plinking with. I can at about 25 yards hit a pop can and thats pretty good with my fixed sight 4 3/4 inch barrel. I also have the 22 mag cylinder but i hardly ever use it. if you get a adjustable model they would serve you good for squirrles and rabits. And if you trap a good companion to dispacted raccons and coyotes and the like.

I have the new model. It's a wonderful gun and my personal favorite for target shooting; you can't find a better teaching tool and I've never had a problem with it. I hope to get another when I'm done buying my combat guns.

Thanks for the advise I think Im most likely going to go get it tomarrow Im still trying to figure out the barrel length that I want so I was wondering what you guys had and if it made a great deal of difference to the balance of the gun or how the recoil as little as it is already might be effected the barrel weight due to the length thanks again

I have an old single six from the early sixties that came with both the .22lr and .22WMR cylinders. It has the 5 1/2 barrel and balances well. I regularly shoot .22 shorts through it and I cannot feel any recoild at all. With .22lr it is still minimal. It's simply a great gun, though I'm partial to Ruger guns.

ruger super single 6

I have a new model stainless 6.5in super single 6. It came with the .22lr and .22win. mag.It goes along geat with my CZ 452 .22lr. lux. I was kinda pissed when the hunter model came out becase I like that style but down want to buy another one due to my budget.

I have the 4" barrel. I think it balances best but I'd get the 5" next time. I think you should just visit a shop and feel them out to get a sense of what length fits you.

Bought the 5-1/2" convertible new in 1974. I lost track of the number of bricks I've put through it before my boys were old enough to shoot. All my nieces/nephews, inlaws and out-laws learned hangun/shooting safety with this little jewel. You aren't going to wear it out, your grand-kids might. It still shoots better than I can... :D

I've got one....

Its the lipseys exclusive, 4 5/8 ", stainless. It has a coolness factor that
few other guns do for me. Pretty accurate too, with CCI MINI-Mags I
can get all six shots on a quarter at 25yds. :) Also is drop dead gorgeous.
Get it its one of those "everyone should have one" guns.

Heres mine.

I have the 4-5/8" barrel Single Six with both .22LR & .22Mag cylinders. Can't imagine a more 'fun gun' to shoot when I want to work on sight alignment, trigger contol, etc. Mine is the 50th anniversary edition, with fixed sights.

Could be used for small game, squirrels, rabbits, etc.

.22Mag is louder than you might expect from a rimfire revolver, though..

I have the 4 5/8 as well and it is suprisingly a good 20 yard pop gun. I can generally hit a pop can every time unless i'm fan firing that is. It is a great little gun.
