just bought one today brand new in blue with 6 inch barrel for 350 dollars out the door.want to know if that was a good buy and also will it make a good range gun in terms or accuracy and holding up.thanks for any stories about your single six.

I've got a 50th anniversary one, with fixed sights and I think it's a 5" barrel. It's a great shooter. I can't imagine wearing one out. I paid a bit less for mine than you mentioned, but it was lightly used.

I just used my 4" Single Six again today and we take it up every range trip. It's one of those must have guns. I almost bought the Mark III6 but given how hard they are to take apart, it pales in comparison to the Six which is a lot of fun and a breeze to maintain. You couldn't ask for a better gun to help with accuracy and honing your shooting skills. Good purchase in my book, congrats. :)

Bought Mine Mid Eightys Used. Shoot It Every Chance I Get. Its Held Up Extremely Well Is Very Easy To Maintain And Except For Some Trigger 'creep' Is A-1. I've Found That It Shoots Tighter Groups With .22 Mags Than With .22lr .
After Spending $$$ On A T-c Contender .223.
, 14" Barrel, Variable Power Scope, Bi-pod, Custom Grips And A 1.5lb Trigger Job From E.a.brown, My First Woodchuck Was Dispatched With My Ruger With The .22mag Cylinder Installed...figures!!!!

IIRC, the 22 Mag is a .223? 224? dia. The 22 LR is a .222, so they cut the barrels for the bigger bullet.

Same thing with the 357/38 9mm Convertable Blackhawk. The 9mm is slightly undersized (.355?) for the .357 barrels.

My stainless Single Six sees a lot of use as well. Bought new in 1999 for a little over $300. Mine does very well with the 22lr cylinder. The target shows a 40+ shot group fired off-hand using cheap Wal Mart bought Federal bulk pack ammo. May try some with the 22 mag cylinder today if I can avaid getting rained on!

You bought a super gun that will give you a lifetime of enjoyment. No way you'll ever wear out a single six. Don't worry about the $. Consider it an advance on something to leave your grandson. :D
