Ruger Service Six

About a month ago I purchased a beat up, dirty, Ruger Service Six. It was all knicked up, and I had to take off the grips and discard them because they were so nasty.
I purchased a dremel, and with some help from DHart this is my first attempt at restoration. Please notice the Ruger trash talk is gone!!! :)

Nice!!!!

Man that came out good. I like the grips. I just bought a Speed-six and with all I have been reading on the forum about the Service Six I am sure I will be looking to find one to add to the stable. You did a good job on yours, enjoy it. Let us know how it shoots.

Why Ruger quit making these guns in preference to that abomination of a sixgun, the GP100, and its stablemate the portly SP101, I will never know.

No "Truer" words were ever spoken! AMEN! I congratulate you, for stating the absolute, Gospel truth, about the Ruger "Six Series" revolvers!!! :p :D

I found myself a new hobby, and it was fun. Bought a couple of books, and DVD's on gunsmithing. And, I downloaded a couple of manuals. DHart who posts on TFL was also a big help. Now I run around the Internet, and local gun shops looking for some little piece of iron to rescue... :)

Good Luck!

Nice job Bullrock!

Would you care to share some of what was involved? I, for one, am interested in what you did to get rid of the Ruger "safety billboard" on the barrel.
