Ruger Security Six - separating crane and cylinder

I still have my very first revolver from long ago. It's a Ruger Security Six revolver in .357 Magnum with the "150" serial number prefix.

I've disassembled the handgun but I'm not sure how to separate the crane from the cylinder. It doesn't just slide out like on all of my S&W. I'm assuming that the ejector rod screws into the ejector but don't want to risk damaging anything experimenting.

Anyone out there know the correct procedure to separate the yoke from the cylinder?

My Security Six has a 152- prefix, but I'd guess that yours and mine are probably the same. I'm assuming that you've removed the trigger group assembly, and have gotten the yoke/cylinder assembly free from the gun. It's been awhile since I removed the cylinder from the yoke on my gun...it had seized up on me due to an accumulation of old solvent and rust buildup. But, I remember that the ejector rod had to be unscrewed...it has a LEFT HAND thread, meaning it unscrews by turning it clockwise. I wrapped mine with a thick layer of electrical tape right up against the yoke, and clamped a small pair of vise grips around it, with just enough clamping force to grip the ejector rod without crushing it or damaging the finish. A quick spin on the vise grips broke it free. After the ejector rod is free, you can remove the extractor, and the cylinder should slide off the yoke. Be careful to note the positions of the springs as they are removed.

Thanks for the info. I think they improved the dimension of the grip starting with the 151 prefix but otherwise they're the same. I paid $98.50 retail for the revolver brand new. I miss those days.
 
1979 price was 219.00 with a holster 4 inch bull barel, I keep looking for one in 2 inch but they seem to be selling in 280 to 350 dollars.
