Ruger Security Six Ejector Rod Removal

Is the ejector rod on a security six right or left hand thread?

My Ruger is stainless steel. What is the best way of removing it. I don't want to scar it in any way.

You always have the right answers. As always, thank you for your help.

Natty, I don't know about always having the right answers but thanks. To remove the ejector rod grip it with leather padded smooth jawed pliers and turn clockwise (front view). That should take it out. If it doesn't work the first time try a little heat. There may be so locktite on the threads. If it is still stubborn, put the rod in a padded vise. Insert two empty shell cases about halfway and put a piece of dowel between them to use as a T-handle. George

I agree with the foregoing. I would suggest that upon reassembly you put some blue loctite on the threads as well to preclude unscrewing under use and recoil and possibly tying up the gun. I used to run qualifications with these guns and if the loctite was used and the recesses under the extractor kept clean we NEVER any problems whatsoever with the guns.
