Ruger Sale

Wow, are the blued models up that high now? Last time I looked they floated around 325-350, the stainless guns were a bit more.

Seems like everything has really jumped in price in the past six months. I collect Lee Enfields and they have gone absolutely crazy in price. From 150/200 up to 300+, some are 500-700 for a No4 Mk2.

My humble opinion

I have been watching the prices on these things for a while now and the trend is downward based upon my very unscientific observations. I don't watch every auction but my sense is that if the initial price is high (over 500.00) the pistol goes unsold. If the opening bid is low, the winning bid will come in somewhere just under 400.00. I agree that the stainless versions fetch a high price. This, to me, is an indication that the shooter intends to treat the pistol as a workhorse. Anticipating heavy use, the shooter is looking for finish that is a little more forgiving when it comes to wear.

I have also noticed that the market is reacting in that more ROAs are listed with lower openning bids (250.00 - 275.00).

I bought mine used on Gunbroker in very good condition with plastic case and papers (no nipple wrench) for 395.00 delivered. (Stainless, Adjustable sites, 7 1/2" barrel) That was about a year ago and at that time it was the cheapest ROA on GB. I think I remember using "buy it now" but I can't say for sure.

A gunshop in this area has a NIB blued 7 1/2 Adj sites for 399.00. I was very seriously considering a second one when I saw that.

This may be a good time to consider an ROA. (or another ROA).

It seems that prices have a least stablized in the last number of months. I bought two stainless 7.5" ROA's NIB in the early part of 2009.

The first one, an adjustable, came in the original cardboard box, with papers, and the original purchase receipt ($213.45 on 11/11/83). I wish I could say I got it for that price but I gave $498. Adjusted for inflation and the devalued dollar I may have just about got it for the same price. The second one I bought, with fixed sights, came in the plastic box sealed from the factory. I gave $495 for it.

In my case I was willing to pay the extra $100 for a virgin ROA versus one not knowing how well the previous owner cared for it. From my observations the used ones are going for $325 to $400 blued. Stainless, another $50 higher. NIB ones seem to be starting at around $500.

Yes, usually $500 or more.
There was a brand new 7.5" SS without adjustable sights for $500 + shipping so it depends on the seller.

So a nib KBP-7 (stainless w/adj sights) would be worth $500.00 ????

What I'm telling you is that a standard (not engraved) from the factory NIB stainless KBP-7 with adjustable sights can be had for $500. That is a start point as arcticap has suggested. Certainly there are those who will try to get more. However, if you are patient you can get a NIB for $500 plus shipping. I think you will be hard pressed to find a NIB for much less.

As far as what they are "worth"....just like anything in life they are worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Your mileage may vary. I paid around $500 therefore, TO ME, they are worth at least that.
