Ruger revolvers

I know that the Blackhawk is SA, while the Redhawk is DA. Are there any other differences between the late model Blackhawk and the Redhawk? What about the 'Supers'? Thanks.

Plenty of differences between the Blackhawk and the Redhawk.

First, they both share investment casting as a common fabrication technique and they both are manufactured in New Hampshire (Southport, CN has been closed for years). So, we have the same factory and same employees assembling both guns.

However, as you acknowledged, the Blackhawk is predominantly a single action revolver (must be cocked for every shot and no swing out cylinder for reloading). The Redhawk is an entirely different gun and is a transition design between the older DA Security Six and the later DA GP/SP actions. The Super Redhawk is a Redhawk on steriods and features a massive frame that encompasses the ejector rod shroud. A round barrel is screwed into this massive frame and the frame is designed to take scope rings. Lockwork on these guns are entirely different from the Blackhawks (which are simpler and straightforward).

Gary do you work for Ruger?
If so give us the scoop on the place. Are sales good? How are things going since Mr. Ruger passed on? I am very interested in anything Ruger.

No. By "we" I meant that "we" the consumers and not "we" as in "we of Ruger." I'm civil servant.

Been to the factory numerous times though. It's near Sunapee, New Hampshire. No big Ruger signs but the "Pine Tree Casting" gives it away. Even without the Pine Tree Casting, everybody knows where Ruger is since it's the major employer of the area.

Despite their slightly inferior trigger to a S&W, I prefer the Rugers over just about all other revolvers. I have a SBH, GP100, and SP101. The only Smith I have is a 340pd, and it's trigger is crap (due to being titanium) compared to the Rugers. The Rugers rule the revolver world for me. Everything about them is superior to the Smiths except for the triggers. The Smith's just don't give me a warm and fuzzy. I've had hammer's lock back, timing problems, ejector rods backout, and hammer spring tension screws backout during firing. None of these concerns with a Ruger and they're built like a tank.

Your right guys the Ruger corp in NH it is in Newport NH. The late Ruger use to have a nice house overlooking the Corbin preserve I believe he had a big share in that preserve, One of the oldest and Prestigious preserves around, Corbin at one time had the largest herd of Buffalo in the preserve and at the time the Buffalo almost became extinct, in tern Corbin granted the west coat with a large amount of his Buffalo's, Corbin was one of the main reasons for the survival of the Buffalo's on the west coast, His wealth was built on the railroad industry, just a little history for the day;)You need to have some big bucks to hunt Corbins preserve and be a member,I have hunted lands of his around that area as well. Sometime the wildboars get loose and they are fair game;) Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

The Plainsman
I told him I would give him a treat, the guns made him scared, so I told him I would take the bullets out of them;) he agreed LOL. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.:D

IMHO I think the Blackhawk less felt recoil. The Redhawk feel like it kicks straight back into my arm where as the Blackhawk has an upward movement.
