I saw a used one at a local shop today for $650. anyone have one? looked like a nice short barrel hand cannon. it had a hogue style boot grip on it.

Someone got rid of their old model to pick up the new model that can shoot 45colt and 45acp. I have a 7 1/2 hunter in 45colt and love mine. If you only want to shoot 45colt then that's not a bad price. I would have a hard time saying no to that gun.

Not exactly...but I have a .45 Colt Blackhawk and a .44 Rem Mag Redhawk. What I can tell you is the Redhawk is much more comfortable to shoot with full house loads than the Blackhawk. Weight and grip shape, I guess. The Blackhawk is a knuckle buster with big loads. Now, if you are not going to shoot "Ruger only", you may be packing extra iron for no benefit. But you said hand cannon, so I think you'll like it. Price? If it's in good shape, that's fair.

I would think that would be a good handgun in 45 Colt.

If you are not going to shoot heavy loads - i.e. cowboy/moderate - then you might look at a different 45 like one of the Uberti Cattleman - and you'd save $150 - $200. But, we're talking apples and oranges too.

The question I have - and not to steal this thread as it's something you might consider as well - is those with the 45 Colt & 45 ACP cylinders. Personally, I guess if you reload both - they you'd might have or get more use out of the two cylinders. I reload but not the 45 ACP. I'd be curious as to how many but the models with the convertible cylinders and then never use one or the other? Not being critical or kicking those that use both - just wondering how many find that they use one or the other and the spare sits on the shelf?

The price seems fair on the RH your are looking at - a nice barrel length and a fun caliber. I'm like smee78 . . . if I ran across one, I'd be doing some serious thinking and procrastinating as to why "I needed it". :):D

the only problem with the ones with 2 cylinders is the sight settings are never the same between both calibers. Which is why most only end up shooting one or the other. I have a 4" 44mag smith I shoot all the time so I don't think the 45 colt will be a problem.

the one I saw looked just like the one pictured but the caliber is stamped on the barrel not the underlug. I don't know if that makes it newer or older than your's.

My only concern is weight. I would prefer to have a Blackhawks on that fact alone. A 4 5/8" or 5 1/2 is a very handy field revolver.

I've had the 4" Redhawk in .44Mag and.45Colt and it is one very fine gun. $650 is a very fair price for a gun that will last a few lifetimes.

I play with .41's now so if they make a 4" Redhawk in .41 I'll buy another one in a heartbeat.

They're nice guns, I had one 3-4 years ago and let it go, probably shouldn't have but it's not the first time I've done it and probably won't be the last. KyGunCo has them brand new for $758, and it's a tank.

I put one on layaway years ago then changed it out for something else. Should've bought the Redhawk 45 Colt back then instead of whatever it was I bought instead.

Now I want one of the 45 Colt / 45 ACP Redhawks and they aint cheap.

I just looked on Gun Broker , I guess not a bad price at $650 . Seems like yesterday when I bought mine have both 45LC and .44 both are great guns . When they first came out with the 45LC think I paid 700 , but its been a few years .
