Ruger Red Hawk

So the other day I got my Red Hawk with a 7.5 inch barrel 44 mag. I said to myself, self why did you buy this cannon? Well I thought it was one of the last blue Red Hawks to be manufactured(who knows). It`s a Big gun. But the action is smooth , the finish is beautiful, & it`s a really nice revolver. I took it to the range today, & shot some Fiocchi ammo through the gun, Much less recoil than I imagined . I then shot some 44 special through the gun ,it felt like
I was shooting a .38! I don`t have the specifics as to the configuration of the rounds , the 44 specials are lead round nose & the 44 mags were jacketed hollow points, Much hotter than i needed to make holes in paper. What a difference the magnums made! All in all,I like this gun, a pleasant gun to shoot.

Same here--in .41 mag.

Welcome to the Redhawk club. A nest of satisfied shooters.;)

I'm glad you like yours. The Redhawk makes big bores fun to shoot.

I'm a Ruger guy but no Redhawk yet. I'm torn between a 4" RH in 45 Colt and a 625 in 45 ACP.
I already have a 454 SRH and a 45 Colt big Vaquero.
It's a tough call for me.

I have shot my .44 mag. Redhawk many thousands of times. I used it in competition for years.
I am not very big but handled most loads comfortably. Up to max-max loads and 300 gr. bullets the recoil was not unpleasant.
Enjoy yours. IMHO, it may be the finest revolver ever produced.

My three Redhawks all in 41mag. A 7.5", 5.5", and a custom 4". I have had several different brands of revolvers, and the Rugers are built like a tank.
