Ruger Rebate Now Online; Stocking Dealer?

The Ruger site now advertises the $40 rebate on the P series and the $20 rebate on the Mark II. But the text states that you must buy the pistols from a "stocking dealer" of Rugers. What exactly is that? Anyone who sells new Rugers, or a dealer with a special Ruger contract? My local Ruger distributor couldn't give me much information on that question.

If you have a good price on a Ruger to start with, a $40 rebate is extremely appealing and hard to resist.

A "stocking dealer" would be a dealer that normally stocks new Ruger firearms. Just about any dealer will sell used Rugers or special order a new one on request, but a stocking dealer would keep some popular models on hand to sell, even if he/she does not have a buyer lined up yet.

thumbtack,

Here is the graphic off their website (just click on the Products link):

Stocking dealers are based on volume and not all dealers qualify. And, don't forget to ASK! Last two months Bushmaster had a buy a rifle and get Maine lobster for free (including shipping) and most all the stocking dealers in that promotion pocketed the lobster. There are other promotion from many companies (scopes and accessories) going on all the time and the dealer just pocket the proceeds on your behalf.

When you're considering buying a Ruger, don't forget that you can thank Bill Ruger for the current 10 round magazine limit. He's no less a sellout than S&W in my opinion.
Also keep in mind that there are other guns out there which are far superior to Ruger.
Just my two cents.

Boycott Ruger?

As I said in a prior message, boycott Smith and Wesson, boycott Ruger, boycott Walther because Smith has a deal with them, boycott Taurus because of the hammer lock, boycott Wal-Mart because they sell at lower prices than little stores, don't buy anything made in China, in fact, boycott everyone and don't buy anything!

I don't believe there are better guns than Ruger's FOR THE MONEY! But I am sure some of you prefer to pay top dollar for everything in order to be politically correct.

I haven’t heard anything about boycotting WalMart, Taurus, or Walther but if I were to discover they had intentionally tried to infringe upon any of my Constitutional rights as Ruger and S&W did, I certainly would avoid doing business with them. It’s my right to do so and so long as companies like S&W or Levi Straus continue their nonsense, they can do it without my help. I don’t watch movies with Jane, Rosie, or Arnold either.
Every revolver I own is a pre-sellout S&W and I cherish them. They are splendid examples of fine craftsmanship. As much as I like these, however, I wouldn’t buy another. Not now. Maybe later, but not now.

I’ve always believed that you get what you pay for. I also believe that you’re far better off with a high quality firearm both in terms of performance and appreciation.
Buy a Colt or Kimber or a Sig and a Llama, Taurus, Rossi or a Ruger and put them away for 10 years unfired. They will all be worth somewhat more than you paid, but I’ll bet the Colt, Kimber and Sig will have far outpaced the others in terms of value vs original cost. They’ll shoot better too. My first Sako cost me about $50more than a Remington or Winchester would have. I’ve hunted with it over 20 years and today it’s worth far more than $50 over the price of a Remington or Winchester.
Buying quality doesn’t necessarily mean paying “top dollar”. It means buying pride and craftsmanship. Sometimes that costs a little more.
I don’t mind spending a few extra dollars to get what I really want instead of compromising to save a couple of dollars. When I buy a gun, it’s usually with the intent of keeping it for the rest of my life, so I don’t cut corners. I’ve had some of my firearms over 30 years. I didn’t compromise when I bought them and I’m very glad of that today.

Rugers are fine guns for the money. I’ve had several in the past. They were reliable and delivered mediocre to average accuracy. I sold them all. Not because I wanted to make a political statement, but because they simply weren’t accurate enough to suit me.
Maybe I’m too fussy, but I won’t settle for second rate accuracy. It’s like buying your wardrobe at Kmart.
Just my opinion.
