I mailed my paperwork to Ruger by certified mail on September 14. They received my letter on September 17. Today I got two $40 checks from Ruger (one for P-95, one for P-97). I am very pleased with the prompt payment of the rebate!

Drake,
What paperwork did you send to Ruger besides the coupon and receipt? I just purchased a P97 and I am probably going to buy a P95 and a 22/45 bull barrel. Have you shot the your P95 and P97? How did they do?

Thanks

The rebate coupon lists what you must send in--what you mentioned plus a copy of the government form that must be filled out when selling a gun (Form 4473).

Yes, the pistols worked perfectly. I got a manual safety P95 and a decocker P97. The polymer frame of the P95 had some slight cosmetic imperfections: two small areas were slightly indented instead of being flat. But I put several coats of black shoe wax on them and they pretty much disappeared. The stainless slides were virtually perfect. I am in the process of amassing a number of high capacity mags to use in the P95 and the P89 I had already. They use the same mags. I see no point in buying a full size pistol that can only hold as many rounds as a compact. That is one reason I won't buy a Glock 21.

I think this is a good time to buy handguns, extra mags, and ammo. But I am not one of the crazy militia types, just an ordinary, moderate gun nut.

Thanks Drake.

I bought the 22/45 today and I have a HS 2000 on consignment to finance a P95. Unfortunately my dealer is out of the rebate coupons, I am going to call Ruger to see if they will send me two more.

I shot the P97 today and I must say I was impressed. It shot accurately, like a gun that cost much more. I have never been a Ruger auto fan, I shot a P85 years ago that had medicore accuracy, but after my experience with my P97 I'm sold.
