Ruger PC4 questions

I put a Ruger PC4 carbine chambered in .40 *&* on lay-a-way and have a few questions before I actually buy it.

I looked in the box and no scope rings were included----the carbine has Ruger's scope mounting system so I figured they would be included----the dealer said it didn't come with them and Ruger's web site makes no mention of scope rings with this rifle.

Are the scope rings supposed to come with this rifle?

All the ballistics tables I have only list velocity and energy figures for handguns.

What kind of muzzle velocity and energy can I expect from the longer barrel (16 1/4in) of the carbine? I am assuming the standard 180grn load.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Can't answer your other questions but I have read that Ruger has discontinued this carbine. Just for info.

I don't remember where I saw it, or even if it is completely wrong, but I seem to remember that for every inch of barrel, you gain or lose 25fps (just as a very rough estimate). However, this is for rifle ammo. Since handgun ammo is supposed to burn most of its powder in that short barrel, I would guess that after about 10 inches, you aren't accelerating much.

HTH FWIW

I highly doubt that the Ruger PC carbines are discontinued as they are fairly new models. Might you be thinking of the discontinued Marlin carbines?

Rugerfreak - the PC carbines are the only centerfire Ruger rifles that do NOT come with rings - I made the call to Ruger myself about 2 weeks ago.

I think you'll like the gun a lot. Mine is, believe it or not, very accurate - 3" groups are common @ 50 yards with the open sights. I toyed with the idea of an optical sight, but I like the simplicity & fast handling of the open sights.

If there is any truth to the gun being discontinued, I will consider picking one up used in 9mm. Again, these are good guns.

Good luck.
