I picked up one of these the other day and have really fell in love with it. I would have rather had the PC9 because I am just using it for plinking, but the 40 cal is great. This is my first 40 cal of any type and I was surprised with how hot this round is in a factory load.I can't wait to pick up some +P! Too bad it doesn't come in .45. Anyway, I done a search on here and read a few posts on the PC9 and since the PC9 and PC40 are identical, I got some good info, But if anyone can ad some insight on magazine options, I would like to hear it. Can the .40 round be used in a 9mm mag? Are the p89 magazines the only ones that will interchange?

Be Careful as per saami specs there is no such thing as .40+p. Any one who offers there ammo with that labeling is either making it dangourously high pressure or using it as a marketing gimic. .40 is already high pressure. Can't help you with the mag question and all my insight into the pc9 was in a previous post that you probally already read.

Thanks for the info ajacobs. The factory handbook listed the ruger as being safe for +p and +p+ ammo but I guess they were refering to the 9mm and not the .40 . I haven't shopped around for any ammo other than the local Wally World so I didn't know the +P wasn't available for the .40. I have learned something already! ---C.L.

From what I have been told, the PC9/PC4 can take mags from any Ruger pistol in the same caliber.
