Ruger P97

Bought one today. Couldn't believe the excellent ergonomics. The Ruger P97 felt better in my hands than the Glock 30 and Sig Sauer P245. The balance was also first rate. Actually, it felt better than the Sig and Glock models I already own. I can't wait to see how it shoots...

I love my P-95... but I have a feeling that concealing it is going to be a PITA. The thing points very naturally in my hands, and I really like how comfortably I can rack the slide on it. The decocker doesn't poke into my thumb and index finger like the safety does on S&W and Beretta's pistols.

Enjoy,
Ben

The P97 or P94 (whichever I stumble across first) will be my next purchase or trade! By the way I received my new Ruger 15rd 9mm mag and my Ruger 11rd 40cal mag today. They look identical. I intend on testing the 40cal mag in my P95. It is supposed to hold/fire 14rds of 9mm without problems. They are less expensive than the 9s.I will post results.

I own the P94, and love it. Out of all the metal framed pistols, I shoot this one the best. However saying that when I do get to make another purchase it will either be the P95 or the P97.

I think you`ll be pleased with your new P-97 when you get to the range too. Many believe that they`re the most accurate of the Ruger autos. Pretty good carry gun too with the right holster. Marcus

I hope your right. Iv'e been told that the 9mm P95 is the most accurate, followed closely by the P97. If the P97 groups as well or close to my Glock 21, I will be very happy. The G21 is very accurate, but the ergonomics are not up to the P97's standards.
As far as carrying it (I'm only 5'5", it won't happen). First, I live in Kali, where we are not allowed to protect ourselves. Second, my only gun that is remotely concealable on my small body is my Glock 26.

Quantum,

I'm green with envy. I have a P95 and would love a P97 to go with it. The guns are durable and reliable and have nice lines. Despite Ruger's reputation for bulky semi-autos, these two models are much more streamline and are comparable to a Glock if you actually do the measurements. I just bought a semi-auto (a Makorov...fairly cheap but still a gun purchase in my wife's eyes), and so it'll be a while before I get the P97. Still, it's next on my list because of the performance of the P95. Hopefully, I'll see a P97 for Christmas. Let us know what you think of the gun after you've shot it.

:) Agreed, I'll be happy to keep everyone up to date on the P97's performance. Funny thing is I really want a P95 to go with it. Once the 30 day wait (one handgun per month BS) is over, I think I might trade my Glock 17 in for a Ruger P95. The G17 has sub-par accuracy and I have never been happy with it.
