Ruger P90 for IDPA?

It would work, but you'd be at a pretty big disadvantage. Alot of stages are 9 rounds so there are no reloads involved. CDP= .45 1911 will hold 9 rounds and so will a SSP 10+1.

You can use it though. But dont plan on being extremly competitive with it.

For the 10 rounders... it depends on how far it extends out of the butt of the grip. The pistol must be able to fit in a box, the dementions can be found on the IDPA website.
I shoot a Springfield 1911, and the the pistol with the 10 rounders will not fit the box, so I use the 8s. I use the 10 rounders for USPSA and shoot the Limited-10 class.

If that is what you have, shoot it.
If you really like IDPA, you will want something more competitive as you get better. But that is then and this is now. Don't worry about winning, just learn.

IDPA guns

Take and use what you have; it's the user not the tool (given, of course, a gun that goes bang when you want, and puts the bullets where you aim).

Really.

Go and have fun; learn.
