Ruger P90, CZ97, or Beretta 92 stainless?

When asking myself a similar question, I opted for the Ruger P90. Mine has been reliable, was reasonably priced, and being a Ruger fan to begin with didn't hurt either.

I used to have a P 90. I had jams with it. That was when I was new to reloading for an auto, and did not gauge the cartridges, so maybe it was my fault. Many people love them. I have not had any experience with a CZ, but many posts indicate they are good. My son got a Baretta 92 recently. He has only shot factory ammo. It always goes bang. I would recommend the 92 with factory ammo of the three choices you give. Actually, in a handgun, I would recommend a revolver. Even better, a shotgun with heavy birdshot in it.

The Beretta is obviously chambered in a different caliber, so that's a tough question.

You *cannot* go wrong with a CZ. My 75B Compact was a hit at the range yesterday.

Actually any gun in the Ruger P series won't cost you an arm and a leg, PLUS they are all great home self defense guns, I have put the new extremeshock 185 Gr Nytrilium J rounds in my P97DC and feel I have most bases covered, Including the over penetratation problem, See thread concerning 380 good carry gun for a post from extreme shock on their testing. They make a round that will not penetrate the skin of an Airplane, For now they make ammo for 9mm and 45 handgunns + a great subsonic round for 556, More to come, Just my .02 cents worth

I'd choose the CZ-97 or Beretta 92 and feel good about either one.

Look into a Beretta 8045. Same controls and grip angle as the 92, but is fires a .45 ACP. Reassembly is a bit different, but not bad at all. This will make it a more reasonable comparison.

As a general use piece for range and home defense it is really hard to beat the Ruger P97 and P90. Great guns. I've always had good luck with them.

i've owned both berretta and cz.the berretta is a reliable weapon that will eat up
anything you put through it.the only thing is that lead is not a preferred bullet
for the barrel because of rifling, and you also only have the option of 9 or .40.
breakdown is incredible easy and the workmanship is superior.
that being said i traded in my 92fs inox for a cz97b and i never looked back.
the cz is also dependable, and probably a better bang for the buck.accurate as
all get out, waaaay more than the berretta and just about as easy to breakdown.
it is a lot bigger pistol and might not fit your hands.the only problems i've had
is with reloads.doesn't like wadcutters and the oal is pretty important.for it to
feed right.i've yet to find factory ammo that it won't eat consistantly.
there also isn't any aftermarket parts including barrels ,grips etc for the 97b yet
unlike the berretta.
find a range that rents both guns and fire away.you can't go wrong with either
of these fine weapons!!!!!!!!just remember the cz IS a .45!

What fits your hand the best? This is something a lot of people overlook, and is very important.

That being said, either the Ruger or the CZ would make good, reliable, home defense guns, although both are on the bulky side for CCW.

The Ruger is definitely more economical.

But if you also plan on using it for target shooting at the range, the CZ is better a better choice.. Several reviewers have described it as "the most accurate out-of-the-box .45."

I own 2 out of the 3, and would say that all of them are damm good guns.

My Ruger P90 has not skiped a beat yet. No matter what style
Bullet ,SWC, RN, HP, SP, 185gr to 230Gr.

My Beretta is also utterly reliable it to hasn't had a falure in 1000,s of rounds.

I have shot the CZ-97 also with out a hiccup.

Its a hard choice but I would have to go with the RUGER P90.

In my opinion, CZ-97B is easily the best of three.
It's amazingly accurate, all steel and has nice SA/DA
for a plain factory pistol. It's also mechanically very strong
and looks real classy, at least for my taste. Every time I pull
it out at the range, I have lots of questions to answer and
lots of positive remarks to digest...
