You can't compete in the 1911 market without a 1911.
The P345 is
substantially similar to the rest of the P-series. All of the important parts are the same, or similar, designs: fire control, slide, springs and guide rod, barrel lockup, takedown, safeties, and on...
The only notable differences are the lockable safety and the magazine disconnect.
And, you're skipping right over the fact that the
entire P-series lineup was discontinued.
You're contradicting your own supporting argument.
If only a bad gun (P345 in your argument) will be discontinued, then why did so many other good guns (P89, P90, P94, P95, P97) get the axe?
It's a very poor argument.
