Ruger P-95?

Thinking about getting a P-95 9mm. Anyone tell me their impressions, likes, dislikes? How's the recoil, what's a good price?

The Ruger P-95 is a solid reliable piece of hardware. As someone said here in an earlier thread, SIGs may be Mercedes Benzes and Glocks may be BMWs, but the Rugers are Chevy Trucks. We bought one for a house gun that my wife could use -- recoil is not a big problem. It will feed and shoot any factory ammo including +P+. Hi-caps are available for around $20 (factory 15-rounders for the late series P-89, the P-93 and P-94 will fit).

The only problem I have with it is getting used to pushing forward instead of inward on the mag release, but this is not a show stopper.

You can get a P-95 for around $300, and for a good, reliable 9mm you won't do better for the price. I'm starting to think about the P-97 (.45ACP version).

I have had my P95 for about three years now. I love it!! It eats anything that I feed it (including Russian) without so much as a burp. It sends lead down range where I want it to go. This pistol is the only one that I have that I can put all 15 rounds into a quarter size hole at 15 yards with!! The recoil is no worse than with any other 9mm. The only thing that I dislike is that it is too big for comfortable concealed carry during the summer here in Arizona. :( About $300 is what I have been seeing them for on the internet. Hello all, I've been hanging around TFL for a couple of weeks and its where I spend 95% of my time at online. This is definitely the coolest firearms site around. Since I own a P95, I figured this would be a good topic for me to make my first appearance. Personally, I like mine. I keep it beside the bed stoked up with Cor-bon +P's. Its fairly accurate with very little recoil. Definitely get the stainless! Mine's blue and the finish sucks. The slide is now a funky shade of purple. All in all. its an ugly pistol. But it will feed anything, which is more than I can say for my old Glock 19. Probably the biggest negative is that its really to big for CC, but it makes a great house gun. As far as prices go, around here I've seen them for $279 for blued ones, with SS about $20 more. For the money, you can't go wrong. Hope this helps.

EWE,

Welcome aboard. Your right, this is the coolest site on the web.

If your looking to government for the solution, you obviously don't understand the problem.

I've had experience with five of the Ruger KP95Ds (three that belonged to my sons and two that were mine).

They were each accurate, reliable, durable, and a great value. We've all used Pro-Mag brand 15 round mags in them without a single malfunction.

Oh, like a Glock is the Cindy Crawford of handguns? :) Maybe I should start a new thread, because I've always wondered why the looks of a pistol matter so much to some people. I don't care how ugly a pistol is as long it it goes bang every time you pull the trigger and makes a hole where you point it.

David, I agree 100% with you. Reliability is the most important thing. I don't consider a Glock or a Ruger to be a good looking gun, but that's not why I bought them. I only mentioned the Glock 'cause it was so finicky with which loads I used, while the Ruger will shoot anything. I've been more than pleased with the Ruger and I'll recommend it to anyone. I was really disappointed with my particular Glock and I just traded it for a Kimber SS Ultra Carry. Its reliable, accurate, and, if I do say so myself, rather good looking. But I still love my Ruger and wouldn't trade it for anything. EWE
