Ruger NM Blackhawk .30 Carbine

A few weeks after I reserved a little flame thrower at the LGS (a S&W 53-2 in .22 Rem Jet), this Ruger new model Blackhawk .30 Carbine popped up at the same LGS. In Switzerland we need a purchase permit delivered by the local bureau of arms for each weapon, but we can combine upto three weapons on the same permit, provided they are acquired the same day from the same vendor. After a quick discussion and $ 580.- it was mine

And since I’m a lucky fellow, I put my paws on this lot of cheap ammo for it, 1900 rounds. I probably need to buy a M1 Carbine now.

Ah... OK, you're in Switzerland. That more explains the price of the Model 53... Here in the US you'd be lucky to find a Model 53 for triple that price.

I'm not sure what the .30 Blackhawks bring these days, but they're a LOT of fun to shoot... if you like fireballs and muzzle blast!

Lots of flames, concussion and fun. Accurate guns, even out to 100 yds. The only problem am having with the newer version is the firing pin protrusion is slightly less than on the other Rugers Black Hawks owned. It does not fire off some of the older military brass owned, due to primer seating too far in. Have read the occasional comment on others having same problem.

Congrats on the new additions. I have a 30 carbine Blackhawk and had mine cut to a 5 1/2" barrel. The guns are great shooters and really shine as a flat, low recoil shooters. Yes the blast and flame are up there but with plugs and muffs I don't have a problem. I want to work up a load for the gun but haven't had any time.

Love mine, dad had a three screws years ago, had to sell it for a down payment. I got as a corona project the larger SS Super Hunter grip frame so need to finish that and install it. Done the same with my 45LC Black hawk as well. makes the grip fit the hand much better than the short XR3 style or what ever the ones that come factory are called.

Shot 50 rounds of old Magtech at the 25 m indoor range tonight. What a blast, literally. I still have to get used to the grip, it’s my first single action.

The S&W 53-2 4” is louder though

I use to not like the .30 Carbine Blackhawk at all, didn't see what use it had, but after seeing some videos of the accuracy they can get compared to what the .327 can do because Ruger doesn't know what size throats .327 revolver should have, I discovered how good the .30 Carb BH can be.

It also doesn't hurt that you can get cheap bullets from Speer or Berry's that can handle full power loads while with .327 you have to buy a pricey jacketed bullet or gas checked bullet.

" Ruger doesn't know what size throats .327 revolver should have..."

Truth, what's this. I have a pair of Single Sixes in .32 H&R, both superbly accurate with cast or jacketed bullets (sub-2" gps at 25+ yards), and with very uniform throats. Mine run 0.312"+- half a thousandth. What are you getting with the .327? Rod
