I bought a Ruger Mini 30(7.62*.39) today. I bought it to shot for fun but I would like to use it for deer as well. Does anyone have any experience with this rifle or cartrige on deer. I live and hunt in eastern TN and it is rare to have a shot over 100 yards. Thanks for the help.

I've take deer, boar, and coyote with my Mini 30 using Cor-Bon 150 grain soft points. They are loaded to about 2300 fps in the Mini. All kills have been one-shot. Accuracy has been very acceptable as well.

Not a bad little carbine at all. I had a low power variable scope on mine.
