Thanks point blank, i was starting to get worried. I figured it would make a pretty handy rifle with speer 130 grain flat points on deep woods swamp deer. Before i used a winchester (listed in the wts board Hint Hint) but found that the safty was too slow to disengage, most likely because i shoot from the left shoulder and have to turn the gun over to switch it off, (a big buck poped out at 30 yards and i couldn't get the safty off fast enough to get a shot off and i don't feel safe to leave it off when trying to get thru thick brush) i figured with the mini-30's trigger guard mounted safty that speed would be increased plus i get the semi auto follow up shot ability. sights suck so i would get a ashley peep sight and probably a laminated stock to make it look pretty. plus it can fire cheap surplus ammo for practice( even though the bore is only .308 i know,) or should i just lug my nine and a half pound m-1a thru the underbrush. i accept crap accuracy, because all i need is MOD (minute of deer) at sixty yards, i'm not shooting any matches with it. Be proud mini owners, so the accuracy isn't up to par with a VEPR, many people have m-1 carbines that have less than stellar accuracy and are darn proud to own them.
