Ruger Mark III Problems

I am trying to disassemble this pistol for the first time and I am running into some problems.

I was able to get the mainspring housing out once, but then I put it back in.

Now trying to get it out again it wont come out for anything.

I think the reason is the hammer is cocked. But now it wont decock!

I put an empty mag in, safety off, and pull the trigger and nothing happens, the hammer wont come down and therefore I cant get it apart.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

Will the bolt work OK? If it won't you may have the hammer strut jammed up instead of fitting down in the mainspring housing as it should.

How far can you get it? Does the latch pull out OK? Does the housing come out?

Do you have an owners manual to follow on re-assembly?

I cant even get the mainspring housing and bolt stop pin out. It feels like it is cocked and thats why but it wont de-cock for anything.

Safety is off, empty mag is in, wont go "click" for anything.

I can only swing the mainspring house out about 3/4 of an inch.

Any ideas?

Can you operate the bolt? If not the hammer strut is jammed up. Place the takedown lever is a brass jawed vice and you will get it, just takes a lot of leverage when it is jammed up.
