Ruger Mark III 22/45 Issues

My cousin has screwed up my good handgun

He someone managed to put the mainspring up into the bolt instead of the hole that it needs to go when he was putting it back together when he borrowed it.

I have been trying my best to remove it but the thing just will not come out.

I have pulled it and I get no luck.

I can not remove the bolt because the mainspring is keeping it there and I can not take off the barrel because its lock in with the bolt inside and the mainspring.

This is a nightmare!

I'm not really picturing your problem in my head. And I don't know of this will help, but there are some assembly/disassembly maneuvers that require (or are at least made easier by) inserting an empty mag into the magwell. Sorry, I'm not an expert on the 22/45.

Not knowing the size of the spring or if it's possible but if you can take a bolt or screw that will just fit inside the spring and screw it down to the bottom of the hole it will give you something to pull with rather than stretching the spring. Plus it will help keep the spring from binding in the hole. After looking at a parts diagram plus rereading your post, this probably doesn't apply and won't help.

Are you saying the main spring is out of its housing and somehow expanded up into the bolt area?
If so, there's some other parts out of the housing too, and possibly missing.

Mine had a main spring assembly and was one big piece. The damn thing needed a dead blow hammer and a brass punch to get it to go where it was SUPPOSED to go, I can't imagine how hard it would be to get it to go where it wasn't supposed to be.
