Ruger LCR In 9mm - Anybody In For One?

I doubt I’ll rush out and buy one, but I’d probably consider it over the .38 version if I were in the market.

A lot of folks speak of interest in a 9mm revolver for carry. I'll be interested to see if it takes off.

It's not my type of revolver, but I can see why it would be popular.

I prefer my revolvers to use rimmed (AKA revolver cartridges) and my semi-autos to use semi-auto (non-rimmed) cartridges. I have a LCR in .38spl. It is a nice gun.

been looking at one in 38 Special... if the cylinder / gun were shorter, I might buy the 9... but I have too many 38 special cases to not buy another gun in 38... that, & I really have a hard time overcoming the plastic revolver ( I'm barely accepting of the plastic autos ) :o

NO!
5456 9mm Luger 17.20 oz. $599.00

5430 38 Spl +P 13.50 oz. $529.00

LCR® in 9mm Luger model comes with three moon clips.

At 3 3/4 oz. additional weight, and a $70.00 higher MSRP those three moon clips you get must be really heavy. Maybe made of gold @ twenty three bucks each!
At least from going by Ruger's spec page, there is no size advantage either.
All Models:
Length: 6.50"
Barrel Length: 1.875"
I'll keep my 9's in my semi-autos, and be happy with 38 Spcl +P in my LCR

I will be interested in one but I will wait until the hype drops off and to see if there are any recalls. After a while they will drop to the same price as the others, I really like my S&W 940 and adding another option will be great.

At that weight, the 9mm version must be made on the 357 mag LCR frame.
Quoting the MSRP for the 38spl LCR versus the 9mm really isn't fair.
The proper comparison is the LCR 357mag...the 9mm version is built on the Magnum frame, hence the identical weight...and price.

I think Ruger will sell a lot.

If they offer it in the X version, I'm in for two.

As is, the wife might get one. :D

They are being made on the .357 frame... SAAMI max pressure for 9mm is the same as for the .357 (35,000 psi)... 9mm +P is 38,500 psi.

Make a 4" barreled SP101 in 9mm and I will be all over it. I gave up on carrying snubs, but if I was in the market I would grab one over a .38 any day.

Despite the fact I hate the LCR

I keep hearing such good things about them I'm sorely tempted to go .38
9MM? Why the hell not.
My hatred is based entirely upon looks.

As a range practice gun and a HD option, I think it's great. However, the need for moon clips limit its usefulness as a carry gun. Ruger should copy Charter Arms' ejection system....that would be a game changer.

One bright side....it's a better product than the last two turkeys....

It's fair if you are comparing 38Spcl +P and 9MM Luger performance!

OK, let's compare on equal frame. Why pay for a 357 Magnum to get 9MM performance?
I guess there are some feather wrists out there who buy a 357, and shoot standard load 38 Spcl out of it. So they are right in line for a 9MM LCR I guess. Just don't get the recoil shy thing myself. It's a gun, it recoil, get used to it!

Next year they will be blowing out the remnants cheap.
The following year, people will be whining "Why don't they make a 9mm revolver?"

The answer is, they have, they don't really sell well, and they are dropped... again.

You forgot, first next year they have to bring out one in 380ACP:eek::eek::eek:

It's also a 2" barrel, the excess blast and flash of the .357 really isn't necessary for terminal ballistic effectiveness.

I do hope it uses the same moon-clips as my SP101s.

For some strange reason, this gun appeals to me.

I don't really carry snubby's or revolvers all that much (deer hunting, but that's about the only time). But this one just sounds like a fun gun.
