RUGER LCR .357 Magnum

I shot my new Ruger LCR in .357 tonight at the range for the first time, all I can say is HOLY %$@&! What a ride! I felt like a kid shooting a gun for the first time! I though my LC9 packed a little punch, I was wrong... I shot 50 rounds of .357 and 50 rounds of .38 special through it and didn't notice till on the way home some of the skin on the outside of my thumb is missing... Here is a video of the .357:

I also ran about 200 rounds through the LCR .22, what a great way to practice! Trigger feels exactly the same and it gives you a chance to really get good with the same sight system without spending piles of cash on ammo.

I was impressed by the accuracy of the tiny guns, both of them outshot my LC9 easily on the first time out. I have a new favorite for carry!

I bought the first and only .357 magnum LCR that saw. Probably paid too much for it but I wanted it. My hands are huge (XXXL) and I can grip the LCR easily but the magnums hurt me. The joint where my thumb attaches to my hand gets battered with the magnums and each round causes pain. I can't deny that it is a powerful and effective pistol but it's not fun to shoot with full throttle ammo.

OK....I want the .22 LCR. I've never seen one but I'm on the prowl for one.

My wife bought a S&W 642 to carry. Long story short- she quit shooting it because of its bark and bite. I bought a LCR .22 and a box of .38 spl wadcutters. The LCR .22 brought the fun back into her shooting experience and the wadcutters gave her even more confidence. After shooting a couple of cylinders of wadcutters; she was even shooting her snubbie one-handed. Love the LCR! I like the sights and the trigger of the LCR better than my j-frame.

Thanks for the validation,,,

Which is exactly why I own seven rimfire/centerfire pairs. ;)

Shooting the .22 helped me learn the sights while saving me a pile of cash, love that Ruger is building so many new rimfire pistols!

I have a 357 LCR that is my CC. It's light for carry and yes, it can pack a wallop! I love mine. I've shot 357 out of it and got the 357 model so I could have the option of 38spl/357. Primarily, I shoot 38 spl. out of it. Glad you like yours!

My Wife and I both carry the LCP in .380. Now that little thing bites when you fire it. I can only imagine what a .357 feels like.

My dad uses one as his EDC. He keeps his loaded with full power Remington 125gr SJHP because that loading has a good reputation, shoots to the sights, and can be had for a reasonable price in 100-round value packs at Wal-Mart. While trying to get through a full 50-round box would not be pleasant, the gun isn't too bad for a few cylinders full. Because of this, Dad always tries to shoot 2-3 cylinders full every time he goes to the range.

Recoil didn't look so bad. My SP101 is much heavier and the recoil looks the same.
It's about as similar as a Harley and a tricycle.

I really like the LCR. But the recoil in the 357s can be pretty significant. It sure as heck is nothing like shooting the same loads in a sp101. Hot 357s are pussycats in an sp. Not so much in the LCR.

Just when I convince myself to stick with 38 Spcl for an LCR you guys get me thinking about the 357 again!
Anybody know of a side by side, pocket to pocket comparison between them. Although still pretty light, to me there is still a noticeable weight difference. Don't know if it's a practical difference, or just perceived one.

I really like my very early .357 KLCR as well. Not as bad as you might think, get a high grip and enjoy the ride.

Here's my video from long time ago - disregard me shooting the dummy in the back.
