Ruger LCR 22

Hey all

I'm seriously considering a LCR in 22LR does anyone here have experience with one? I'd love to know what their like

Gary

Double action only, very reliable, and reasonably accurate. Sometimes you have some sticky extraction issues, but not real bad. They are fun to shoot and reasonably easy to get pop can accuracy at modest ranges (basically comfortable plinking ranges out to 10-15 yds).

I would buy another in a second.

In fact, I am looking at the LCRx right now.

got one for my kid to train with... the "cam design" trigger is better than other rim fires but not all that great generally speaking.

it will shoot low if you use a center hold. at 15 yards a 12 o'clock hold is what I need to get center shots. if you want the ruger front sights they will make it worse... the sights really are lousy on this gun, other than the built in lock, its a good little plinker.

Thanks guys

Being in California I have to buy before April 11. It falls off the handgun list then. I'm definitely going to see about one

LCR-22 was one of the 2 guns I've ever sold. The other was a POS Raven 25. I don't miss either one at all.

The LCR was rugged, reliable, and fairly accurate. I really hated the trigger, the annoying transfer bar rattle, and the tinker-toy feel of the gun. It's a good gun for someone who hates guns. Enjoy.

Rimfires require a significant hammer strike to be reliable and in a double action revolver this results in a heavy DA trigger pull.
The LCR-22 is no exception.
It's also ugly but mine worked well.

Yes, you do have the trigger pull weight issue with most rimfire revolvers and especially in smaller ones. I have been talking about getting a S&W M63 (3") since they came out and to this day, I have only seen one in a gunshop. It was being sold at scalper pricing as well as being used and sold or offered for sale as "new". I passed on that one.

I do prefer a hammer on rimfires unless you intend to carry it. But then, variety is the spice of life.

'Pends on your intended use. For a kit gun, and plinker I would think about waiting for a little to see if they introduce the new exposed hammer LCRx in a rimfire version.
If you are looking for a rimfire pocket revolver for CCW, it would be a good choice.

.

Ever since Ruger introduced the hammered CF version of the LCR ( the LCRx), I've been waiting for the RF version (an LCRx-22 ?) - since I'd rather have a hammer on a RF, for trail or plinker use.

Seeing the trend in reviving old threads, (at least this is not seven years old!)
I thought I'd use this thread to ask my questions.
Why does the LCR .22 hold 8 rounds, while the .22 magnum holds only 6 rounds? Seems like they could have put 8 .22 magnums into the same space?
Would have made a better CCW for those wanting a .22?

Congrats.
Seems like this has been a "Ruger" week the past 7 days. How's the trigger action on the 22? Is it similar to the LCR or GP 100?
Respectfully,
Doc et al.

LCR

Haven't tried the 22 but my LCR 38 is a great carry piece. If the trigger puller isn't better on the 22 I don't think it would be much fun/

excellent piece

im very happy with my lcr22lr. ive fired about 1000 rounds with zero problems. i find light 38 snubbies too punishing hence i cant hit with them. i would rather hit with a 22lr than miss with a 38.

I bought an LCR 22LR a couple of months ago, but have not had a chance to take it to the range yet. It should be fun!!

I believe Ruger said they could have fit 7 rounds into the LCR-22M cylinder but with 7 they had occasional extraction issues, and with a 6-round cylinder they did not have this problem, so they went with 6.

I considered the LCR-22M but ended up paying about $300 more for a S&W 351c. Somehow S&W managed a 7-round cylinder with no issues. It's smaller than the LCR and about 4-oz lighter. It also doesn't rattle. I feel the Ruger rattle is inexcusable in a concealed carry weapon.

Rimfires always or almost always have stronger triggers than the center fire version from the factory. It is just something you have to get used to. I personally don't find the trigger all that bad for a rimfire small framed snubbie.
