Ruger LCP Aftermarket Safety

'Ruger LCP 380 Quick Release Conceal Carry Micro Holster Trigger Stay (Black) "

This is the rubber insert that goes behind the trigger and must be pushed out to fire the weapon.

Has anyone tried this or have an opinion.

Thanks, Jim

Why?

With a quality pocket holster, the trigger is covered. The key is drawing and NOT putting the finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot. That takes practice.

In a fast critical incident, you may screw up the push and I don't see how playing around in the trigger area is safer than just not getting the finger on it.

A solution to a training problem, IMHO.

Why?
--------------------

Murphy.

The worry is not on my end. The worry is - and I worry about this constantly even though the weapon is on me or locked up - somebody else gets ahold of it.

I could be hurt in a car accident, heart attack, ect

Frankly the odds are better that happens to me than being in a conflict.

The trigger is a lighter pull than a Glock.

If someone gets it, the gadget could be easily popped out by folks playing with it. If stolen, the gadget is trivial.

If you are in an accident or need EMTs for a heart attack, they usually just secure the gun.

So, why have the gun? Quick response to a threatening incident vs. the car accident/heart attack-play with the gun by strangers?

I don't see the risk analysis.

Of course your point is valid.

If this gizmo works well -- and I will test it ---

If it was just me, no kids, other family ect, it would not be an issue with me.

I just like to tilt the odds in safety's favor possible at the expense of a bit of speed.

If it clumsy - it's gone.

Since you mentioned family, I'll just add that if you're concerned about a child then the trigger gadget is not a secure advice. Keep the gun locked up unless you are carrying it. Otherwise, I'm with the others -- you're putting something on the gun that may screw you up for no reason. It may even give you a false sense of safety.

Of course --- if you read my post you will see that's what I always do.

I just worry about the scenario out of ones control.

I remain very cautious of striker fired pistols.

I would not have it except for - the LCP is amazing for pocket carry.

I may just have striker fire phobia. All my other pistols are SiG double/single action.

before THAT 1911s or Hi Powers.

Just received and conducted the testing.

The rubber stop works very well to keep the gun from firing when in place.

Way too well.

Impossible to disengage as advertised/implied with just trigger finger.

The instructions come with other methods all requiring TWO hands, " in case you can not remove safety with index finger."

It is much faster and more ergonomic to just rack the slide.

There ya have it --- no use for it.
