Ruger LCP .380

I bought the LCP new in the box from a decent gunship in Euless, TX. It's light, flat, nothing to snag on clothing. I have been carrying it and shooting it for a long time now. I've seen some people do weird things to these guns and I wonder why. I've seen spray painted guns, sights ground and filed, weird accessories attached. Strange stuff. I left mine totally stock. I use flat nose hard ball ammo and stock sights and it hits well, works well. At 25 yards with stock sights it stays in the kill zone on a Q target; very easy to do - IF - you learn the pistol and develop your skill with this pistol. Surprisingly accurate. At 10 feet it's adequate to defend yourself without using sights. A friend fired it, learned the weapon quickly and started dinging an old iron skillet at 70 yards with 7 of 10 cartridges from a steady rest !!!! He figured out where to hold on that skillet and repeated the hold from a good rest. Stock sights apparently work fine. At 10 yards virtually anyone can be taught to hit a Q with this pistol in its stock form. I think this pistol is a "keeper.". Has anyone had any difficulties with the LCP they would wish to comment on?

I had 2 LCP''s (Elsie Pea) and I really liked them and easy to carry and reliable. My problem was they hurt my hand big time shooting them and I was just never comfortable holding and shooting them! Great to carry maybe the best for size they just never did quite work out for me! I'm not knocking LCP in any way and would recommend them for someone to try!

Had a Glock 42 didn't really care for that either.

I have since gone on to a Kahr CW-380 and a CT-380. Out of these 2 I like the CT the best.

SDF, the LCP is meant to be a defense weapon not a range gun. I understand it takes some range time to break it and and get used to it but if I have to shoot enough rounds to defend myself that it hurts my hand, I deserve to be shot.

I agree not a range gun but anything that hurts my hand and may effect shot placement I don't want to use it. I'm rock solid with my CT-380. I generally carry 9MM or 40 anyway.

Gator for sd I would recommend something like critical defense by hornady. My lcp shoots them fine and they are much better than hard ball. You experience mirrors mine. While I don't shoot it as much as other pistols, it is remarkable easy to shoot well. Very reliable ad easy to carry. I love mine.

I mirror the OP 100%. I bought one new when it hit the market. I have about 2500 rounds thru it without a hiccup. I also agree with the poster who said it hurt his hand when he shot it. I got a grip sleeve after about 500 rounds and it changed the feel of the recoil to where I can easily shoot 50-100 rounds at a range session and not feel any discomfort. The sleeve also stopped the gun from twisting in my XL hands. I also put the pinky rest on all my mags. I am 100% happy with my LCP and will always carry it when it fits the need. The grip sleeve changed it that much.

Yes to LCP!

+1 to LCP owners above. Tip:If shooting 50 rds.,I slip on a pair of thin skeet gloves...big help on sting! Also use the excellent Hornaday CD load.

I have the Houge grip on mine, and it definitely makes it easier to shoot well. I think the LCP is a great little pistol.

I love my stainless LCP. It has been so easy to carry and always goes bang when needed. Not a fun gun by any means but not as bad as some folks lead on. It is not a plinking gun!

I tried the CW380 for a bit but went back to my LCP. The LCP is lighter and made for easier pocket carry. I carry mine with the Ruger 7-round mag and it helps drawing and shooting the smaller gun for sure.

Another for the houge handall grip. I had the same problem with my lcp hurting my hand when shooting. It never got shot much. I put the grip on it and it is now a plaeasure to shoot. Also my accuracy improved also(could be the fact I am shooting it more). I even had to buy 380 dies so I could reload for it. It has been ultra reliable for the 8 years I have owned it. I recently bought a lcp custom for the wife for $220. I put a pink handall on it. Great guns.

Owned the first gen and before or after the recall the trigger was high effort and a long pull. Recoil was snappy and after two or three mags shooting wasn't pleasant.

I carried it for a year but couldn't bring myself to shoot it more than that. Sold it off for a P938.

It's an unfair comparison to say the SA trigger on the SIG is better - of course it is, it's about 25% the trigger pull length and lighter with a safety, too boot. Nonetheless it wasn't capable of me ( 5' 6") to pocket carry it.

I finally started looking again and it boiled down to a much better gun with a short DA trigger, slide hold open, better sights that can be upgraded, and a Browning link system that made shooting a 50 round box easy. It was the same weight unloaded and fits the same overall "box" size.

You get what you pay for - the LCP isn't all that. It's the Keltec rebranded with the same attributes, which might not be fair to Keltec.

I own a pre recall first gen LCP. Great little gun and for what it is, it is accurate, reliable and easy to shoot. Not a gun to shoot all day long, but not unstoppable at the range either.

Mine has been trouble free as well and I have no issues with the sights or long trigger.

The price they sell for now is a great buy as well.
