Ruger LCP .380 striker fired?

Has anyone heard if Ruger plans to take the LCP .380 in the same direction as the LC9 and make striker fired versions?

If the supply really is drying up, that's probably only because they are practically giving them away for around $200 at many dealers online. I know because I couldn't pass up the deal!

I couldn't pass up a deal either. I got an LCP Custom in early December.

I suppose another explanation for the short supply of the LCP could be that Ruger's production is focused on the Ruger American pistol now.

Striker LCP?

My LCP is Series1,2series after original drop recall. For its purpose,7-10 yd.accuracy is good, and no issues in 350 rds.I'm a "trigger guy"but if this comes to pass I hope a super light trigger is NOT in this small CCW. IMHO it would compromise the LCP's inherent safety.

Because I want one. Why did you even post if that's all you had to say?

Because I see people obsess over whether some particular handgun is striker fired or hammer fired. That's way, way down the list of things that matter.

It seems odd, since except for pure target pistols (a hammer gun can usually be given a better trigger pull) I can't see that it makes any real difference. I have seen Browning fans argue that the sainted JMB would never use a striker; in fact, he used both - the Colt VP and FN vest pocket pistols are striker, as are the FN Model 1910 and 1922.

Oh. That makes sense. For me, the LC9 striker version has a nicer feeling trigger than the hammer version. I hoped to expect the same from an LCPs

Obsess might be true for some. However, I've owned a HK P30L and a Walther P99AS. The striker fired P99 was a better SA/DA trigger.

Some of us just like good triggers, no matter the system.

Larger sights, and improved trigger are what it is said to offer.
I really don't have a problem with my early LCP in either respect. It was never intended to be a target gun, or even a plinker for that matter. It's intended purpose is a SD pocket pistol used for close in situations. Probably even closer than the ten yards I often shoot at. Where with instinct point and shoot I experience center mass, and head hits on a B27 target easily.

Which is why the trigger doesn't bother me.

Get a little bit bigger, into the size range the KT PF9 and Ruger LC9 are, and it does matter (to me), because these are guns I might also shoot for other reasons.

Very true.

Agreed. I have an LC9s and I shoot it quite a bit. I think I'm a little more accurate with it than some of my other larger 9s but I have no idea why.

...which are largely unavailable. My dealer has been trying to get me one for a while now. That is what is fueling the speculation that Something Big is going on with the LCP, and with the SHOT Show next week, we don't have long to wait.

I can see the need.

In my lady's firearm class, in panic situations people (not just women, men too) have problems fumbling with the safeties.

J-frame revolvers are the winners but many want pistols, smaller then the Glocks or M&Ps, that are striker fired with no safety.

I bought a LC9s Pro, which fits but many don't like the recoil of the 9mm in that small of a pistol.

I think a striker fired (no external safey) would be a big seller.

On a side note: As a revolver guy who has carried the J-frames, I'm really starting to like the LC9.
