I recently purchased a Ruger LC9 and am experiencing exceptionally long trigger travel. The travel is so long I begin overly anticipating the moment of firing pin release and discharge, often resulting in scattered groupings and even 'thrown' shots. At the 'end of the squeeze' the trigger seems to become 'spongy' thus seeming to cause more resistance and resulting in difficulty in maintaining proper sight picture and hand control. I emailed Ruger and they provided the following response:
"Response:
I am sorry there is no adjustment for the trigger pull or length of the LC9. All LC9 trigger pulls are measured in weight. The factory standard trigger pull for the LC9 is 8 lbs + or – 1 lbs. If your firearm falls into this category we cannot touch it due to liability purposes. If your firearm is not within our factory specs please contact us."
I'm concerned that the trigger pull is so excessive that it could possibly impede adequate firing time should I be confronted with an emergency firing situtation. Perhaps my LC9 is not the right weapon for 'conceal-carry.' Thought readers would like to hear about my experience with this handgun.
