Ruger hammer forging when and what??

When did Ruger start hammer forging barrels? How can I tell if I have one and do they do it for all models? I'm interested because I have a new 1-V in 22-250 on layaway.
I tried searching for the Mad Dog threads but came up empty handed.
Thx,

Dunno about Ruger, but the Steyr Mannlicher hammer forged bbls have a swirling pattern of little flats on the outside of the barrel where the hammers beat the barrel down into the rifling mandrel. They look great and shoot like a laser.

Since 1994 Ruger had Austrian Hammer Forging machinery at the Newport, NH plant. Started out with 2 and they now have 5.

Note: not all Ruger barrels are from Ruger. The Mini14 is subcontracted out because Ruger doesn't have enough rifling/forging machines to meet their own production.
