The reason for the gun being at the pawn shop could be many, not just a defective gun. The I need a very quick buck is probably the biggest. Why do people often trade a gun in for another instead of selling it outright. They will get 1/2 of retail value at best. If the gun was defective, it could have just as easily been sold to an unsuspecting buyer at a gun show, or at a gun shop. I purchased defective guns at "reputable" gun shops three times that I can remember. They did at least take them back without question as if they knew. I could smell it, but this is beside the point.
