I finally broke down and ordered a GP100 in the "Target Grey" finish (http://www.ruger.com/Firearms/FAProdView?model=1739&return=Y). I just liked teh feel of the GP 100 in my hand. I also ordered three Safariland Comp III speed loaders. Now I am in search for a holster and speed loader pouch(es) that are legal for IDPA use, preferably in kydex. Someone suggested that I look into Blade-Tech, although their online catalog doesn't show anything made for the GP 100.

Can anyone suggest other (less expensive) holsters? I do not plan on carrying this gun, it will become my nightstand handgun. Since most holster makers seem to offer primarily S&W models, is there a S&W frame model that is compariple to the GP100 (i.e. L-frame)?

Thanks in advanced.

My GP-100s use holsters and speedloaders that also accommodate Smith L Frame .357 magnums (581, 586, 681, 686). I would suggest carefully fit-checking the holster and with your new GP-100, not just accepting "catalog promises".

I'd stay clear of Kydex holsters. They usually scratch guns.

I don't shoot IDPA, but if the Bianchi 5B or the El Paso Threepersons holsters are valid for that sport, I'd lean toward them. You may have to resort to pancake style holsters like El Paso's Tortilla if you need to carry concealed with a gun that size.

Lone Star

If you ordered your GP in Target Grey, I would use a leather rig or some kind of stiff nylon fabric. They say the target grey finish isn't very durable.

My GP100 rides in the same leather as my L frame Smith. Don Hume has an affordable line of leather holsters and a few nylon that should fill your needs for IDPA and low cost. I use their model 715's for all my handguns, auto loaders and revolvers alike. They are durable, fit well and wear well.

Try Don Hume Leather

What Arub said about Don Hume. I have model 715M IWB holsters from them for my GP, SP-101 and my Glock 19. They are great and best they are less than $30.

I'll "third" Don Hume. I recently got a leather IWB from them and it's a great buy for the money. I also have several more expensive (and some less expensive) and the Hume represents an excellent value. I think I got mine from Red Diamond Uniform Supply, who had the best prices.
