Ruger GP100 Rattles?

Looking at a GP100 in a local shop. Looks to be in good shape. Locks up tight and the trigger feels smooth. The only thing I noticed is that it has a slight rattle if you shake it. Similar to the noise a some semiauto mags make. Is this an issue? I own several autos but this is my first wheel gun. Thanks in advance.

Bishop1198 is 100% correct

On an empty gun hold the transfer bar down and shake it.
The transfer bar is a small metal plate the width of the hammer that is a safety device that require the trigger to be pulled befor the gun can fire.
When the trigger is pulled the bar stays up and the hammer makes contact with the bar and the bar strikes the firing pin and the pin strikes the primer.
Another way is to pull the trigger and gently lower the hammer until is all the way down and with the trigger held all the way back shake it again.

Sometimes the ejector rod rattles too.

Neither is a problem. Both are supposed to be loose-fitting parts.

Hello Im new here, I've been reading on here for a few days now and really like this board, seems to be a great bunch and knowledgable.
I just bought a brand new GP100 4" SS, I dont have a CWP so I had to wait the 7 days, Thats over now and I just picked it up tonight, I cant wait to get out and start bangin it. I chose the GP100 after alot of reading on here and a few friends that have them, I dont think I went wrong? I really like the feel of this gun, I put the Hogue monogrip on it had hogue in the past and loved them, nothing at all wrong with the factory grips just wanted to save them is all.

My new GP100 makes no noise at all when I touch the transfer bar and shake it, without touching the transfer bar it makes a rattle noise I'm sure this is normal, you must be hearing the transfer bar?

there is also a little pin that is used to hold the mainspring compressed for disassembly that is stored in the grip..at least it was on my sp101 and SRH, which share the gp100's trigger mech. I used a little tape to keep it from moving around. It is stored on the inside of one of the grip panels.

Hope this helps.
